Team Operations

Our achievements this year are greatly indebted to our hard-working tutors, administrative staff, and invaluable collaborators across the school, who not only partnered with us for events but also supported our exploration in new avenues for growth. As our ambitions expanded, so too did our team infrastructure as we introduced new roles, streamlined processes, and enhanced reference resources.

Team Resource Development

Strategic Vision

This document outlines our strategic vision and articulates how CTWC’s approach aligns with City Tech’s overarching institutional goals. We presented these materials to City Tech leadership in Fall 2023 to discuss our proposed strategy to meet growing demand and request much-needed institutional support.

Faculty Guide

Given CTWC’s relatively new presence on campus, we often have to field many questions from faculty on what the Writing Center is and what students can come to us for. Our Faculty Guide helps to address the most common questions we hear.

Tutor Training

In lieu of funding for formal tutor training, our admin team instead established monthly staff meetings, which include required readings, written responses, and group discussion, to ensure our team’s continued professional development. The curriculum covers established and contemporary perspectives on tutoring fundamentals, workflow, accessibility, multi- and trans-lingualism.

Tutor Handbook

This document clarifies expectations and policies for students and instructors who engage with the Writing Center, and tutors and staff who are employed by the Writing Center. External-facing elements of this handbook can be viewed under the “About Us” section of our main website.
