Looking Ahead

This report reflects the hard work of our dedicated, part-time team at CTWC, whose passion for supporting students and each other have managed to produce outsize results under various constraints. What began as a small departmental initiative in response to the loss of institutional writing tutoring funding has transformed into a groundbreaking Writing Center serving one of the country’s most ethnically and socioeconomically diverse student populations.

We do not take our mission lightly, nor our achievements for granted. We are deeply appreciative of our many stakeholders, including CUNY’s Coordinated Undergraduate Education (CUE), the School of Arts and Sciences’ Transformative Funding, the Research Foundation, and numerous offices and faculty, whose support has been instrumental to accomplishing these outcomes.

Looking ahead, our vision is to evolve into a permanent student support service that can effectively serve City Tech’s 15,000 students. We have built the necessary foundations to scale our professionalization and retention outcomes. However, it would be remiss if we did not acknowledge that our achievements to date have been built on contingent finances, and that our desired growth is only possible through increased and stable funding – in particular, stable administrative funding.

This site is designed to highlight what’s possible. Our hope is that your support allows us to turn our ambitious start-up project into something more stable and sustainable for the future.

If you are interested in learning more about our work or supporting our mission, we would love to hear from you.
